Number of plants per hectare in function of the density

It is a very important parameter to make a quality wine. Today, in France, the tendency is to increase the density in all the vineyards. The stress induced by the competition between the roots of the vines increases the sugar content and other components, necessary to get a wine of high quality. For example, in Champagne, the density of plantation is 10 000 vines per hectare!
But, the choice of density also has to fit the machinery used in the vineyard.

To obtain the density pro acre, divide by 2.5.
